The CHISPA Foundation and The University of Arizona School of Music, in collaboration with UA Presents proudly present the 4th Annual VIVA ARIZONA! Hispanic Performing Arts Conference on September 22 & 23.
The event includes two days of music & dance workshops and the opportunity for 200 workshop participants to perform at the UA Presents season opener featuring Mariachi Sol de Mexico & Vikki Carr, Friday, September 24, 2010 at the University of Arizona Centennial Hall.
Maestro Jose Hernandez, a proud fifth generation mariachi recognized as one of the top 100 most influential Latinos in America by Hispanic Magazine, directs Mariachi Sol de Mexico, the first mariachi group to be nominated for a Latin Grammy. Maestro Jose will be conducting the VIVA Arizona! mariachi showmanship workshops for 100 musicians.
The VIVA Conference will also offer Mexican folklorico dance workshops for 100 participants on September 22 & 23. The workshops will be conducted at the University of Arizona School of Music & Viva Performing Arts Center.
